This weeks pondering s have been about what gets you out of a bad mood?
One thing that can help is belly breathes (using your whole belly to take breath in). Babies naturally belly breathe all the time but for us we have to think about it. I like to start my classes with a deep breath or two and I know that on my very first class I needed it! (not for the bad mood but the nerves!)
This week we all had a cold at some point in our house and it definitely put us all in a bad mood. Mostly me as I felt I had a million and one things to be doing.
What could help?
Drawing a picture? Colouring in helps. Kids have the right idea, just colouring in and completing sections of it can help. I have colouring in books for adults, not 'adult' colouring books. One is actually all about being a mum and colouring it in as actually a fun stress relieving activity. Mindfulness is a great at helping us feel calm and that's what colouring in can do for you, make you feel in the moment and not think about your stresses etc. I read that it can also release dopamine.
Your favourite song? I am obsessed with Lizzo at the minute, and Ive just booked to go see her in March and I can not wait!
Turn the song up loud to help, and bust some moves.
Does anyone like being in a bad mood? Sometimes dancing and colouring wont cut it, especially if you are 2 years old. Then they are more likely to want to
Hit things or wreck things. Why not have a toddler build a tower and knock it down again, using pent up energy can definitely dispel a bad mood and help them direct their energy to something they can 'wreck'.
A cuddle from your little one is s definite winner too.
I asked my husband what helps him and he right away said cuddles.
My 4yr old said drawing lovely pictures helps her.
I then took to a few friends to see what they said.
'Getting out of the house is a good one, fresh air is great especially if its beside the sea.
A Long hot bath with snacks was a popular one too.'
Getting out of the house in those early baby bubble days is hard. I applaud anyone who can make it out to a 10am class, dressed and have their baby dressed! Don't even get me started on those who go to a spin class before 10am (or even at all!)
