Bringing up a baby can sometimes be a little lonely, espeacially on maternity leave. As a new parent in Belfast, you might be on the lookout for the perfect spots to take your little one for a day out. Luckily, Belfast boasts a range of cozy cafes and delightful playgrounds that are ideal for a fun day with your baby. Here are the top 5 places you should definitely check out:
1. Botanic Gardens Playground
Nestled in the heart of Belfast is the picturesque Botanic Gardens Playground. This playground is grand, and has baby swings! It's a great spot to meet other parents and for your baby to socialize, with loads of coffee spots nearby/
2. A play centre place (not soft play
There is a play place out near Doagh called the wee village. They have lovely toddler mornings for 4 years old and under. Visit their Instagram for more. My girls love it there and then having a coffee and a traybake for me, its a win win!
In the centre of Glengormly there is the little play studio and in Mallusk we have happy littles! Spoilt for choice! Why not try them all!
3. Baby classes
When it comes to warm welcoming places, a baby class is the place to be. Little happy humans classes are pretty relaxed and informal while still being fun for baby. each class ends with a cuppa and me convincing you to take a treat from the treat tub. Its also a great place to meet others at the same stage of parenting as you (other baby classes are available, but infant massage and baby yoga are top tier, in my opinion!)
4. Swimming
It can be daunting the thought of taking your baby swimming, but honestly it can be a lot of fun. I would recommend something easy to put on baby after swimming, having milk for them as soon as you get out (or food if they are weaning!) I have heard great things about Antrims new pool. We go to ballyclare six mile as its usually quite quiet, with a baby morning on on a Friday!
5. The library
But Natalie, my baby cant read?!
Oh but they love to hear you talk, and reading to you baby is so so important. You can get baby their own library card and they have events on, for example rhythm and rhyme.
Exploring with your baby can be a fun adventure filled with cosy cafes and exciting playgrounds.
Whether you're seeking a park for a leisurely day out or a bustling café for a quick bite, these top 5 places offer a blend of relaxation and fun for both you and your little one. So, pack your baby bag, grab your pram, and set off to discover the charming spots that Belfast/Newtownabbey has to offer!
Remember, the key to a successful outing with your baby is to just get out there, it will benefit you and your baby by being out and about, especially as we head into darker days.
Happy exploring!
Natalie
